2008 Step Up, Neighborly Program Under Way |

Step Up, Neighborly 2008
Neighborly is stepping up again this year, encouraging staff, volunteers, and clients to move more and eat wisely.
Just as they did last year, the Broward County Meals on Wheels Congregate Dining program has challenged us to see which dining program can "walk" the farthest. The goal in 2007 was to "walk" round-trip to Washington, D.C., a distance of approximately 834 miles each way. This year, we have been challenged to "walk" to London, England (4,432 miles) to have tea with the Queen. The Meals on Wheels program in London has also joined in and is sending tea to the winner. As of April 2nd, we have made it to London. Now we are on our way back.
Everyone can help. Pedometers are available for $2.00. Contact Nancy in Marketing (573-9444, ext. 208) if you would like to purchase one. The "Step Up, Neighborly" program will end on May 30, which is National Senior Health and Fitness Day.
NOTE: There is also a friendly challenge going on between employees and volunteers at the Administration building and those at the Solomon Peska building. As of March 31, the Peska building is ahead. Admin -- better step it up! |
